Washington Research Foundation awards $275K grant to Nino Ramirez of Seattle Children’s to develop schizophrenia treatment targeting synaptic pruning pathway
The Washington Research Foundation awarded Dr. Nino Ramirez of Seattle Children’s Research Institute a $275,000 grant to develop a treatment that can halt the progression of schizophrenia.
This builds on a prior $100,000 award supporting work on a C4-protein-degrading molecule that could restore healthy brain function. “Team science is the future of pediatric research which allows us to rigorously translate bench research into a cure and therapy in patients using the fantastic infrastructure that we created here at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute,” said Ramirez. “This grant is also the result of our great interaction with the Washington Research Foundation, which provided important scientific guidance at every step of the grant”.
The investment highlights how Washington’s strong research ecosystem is fueling innovative neuroscience breakthroughs with the potential for global impact.
