In Fierce Biotech‘s annual list of the top emerging biotech hubs of 2026, Seattle ranks as No. 3 globally, showcasing the region’s growing influence in life sciences, AI and biotechnology. The ranking points to Seattle’s strong research institutions, workforce talent and expanding biotech ecosystem as key drivers of continued leadership
The ranking showcases the 31,000 professionals in Seattle’s life sciences industry, including 17,000 in research and development. Between 2019 and 2024, the region attracted $5.1 billion in venture capital funding, while Washington companies raised $2.6 billion across 37 early-stage life sciences deals in 2024. The ranking also reveals Seattle’s strength in growing lab space and continued investment in research and commercialization.
The recognition reflects Washington state’s continued momentum as a life sciences hub, driven by collaboration among research institutions, biotech companies, investors and technology leaders.
