Seattle biotech lands investment, collaboration deal for cancer treatments
Aptevo Therapeutics, a Seattle-based clinical-stage biotechnology company, has received a $500,000 investment from Niowave, a Michigan-based medical radioisotopes company, as part of a collaboration to develop up to three radiopharmaceutical cancer treatments.
The companies will initially target Nectin-4, which Aptevo said has “broad relevance across solid tumors,” as they work to develop treatments that apply radiation to tumor cells while limiting damage to surrounding healthy tissue. “Niowave brings critical expertise in radioisotope production and supply, which is essential to advancing this class of therapies,” said Aptevo CEO Jeff Lamothe.
The partnership strengthens Washington’s cancer innovation pipeline, pairing Aptevo’s therapeutics with Niowave’s radiopharmaceutical expertise to advance more targeted treatment approaches.
