University of Washington team working on CPR feedback device wins health innovation challenge

A team from the University of Washington won the 2026 Hollomon Health Innovation Challenge with CPRight, a device designed to provide real-time feedback that improves the quality of CPR during cardiac emergencies.

CPRight provides data on compression rate and depth to help ensure bystanders perform high-quality, life-saving chest compressions during an emergency. The UW student team won the $15,000 Hollomon Family grand prize as well as the $2,500 Naturacur Wound Healing Best Idea for a Medical Device prize in the annual competition hosted by the Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship.

The project highlights how student innovators and academic programs in the Seattle region are developing new health technologies aimed at improving emergency care outcomes.
