After megaround, Seattle biotech startup Umoja aims to stay ‘disciplined’

Seattle-based Umoja Biopharma announced it raised $100 million in Series C funding earlier this month.

Founded in 2019, Umoja develops in-body treatments to boost the effectiveness of immune cell therapies, targeting both cancer and autoimmune diseases. Umoja will use the funding to advance its clinical pipeline to the point where the company is reporting data. “We are going to be very disciplined in terms of growth,” said Umoja co-founder and CEO Andy Scharenberg.

Umoja’s funding adds to Seattle’s impressive start to 2025, underscoring the region’s continued expansion of its flourishing life sciences industry.
