Seattle biotech nonprofit lands funding to improve vaccine responses
The Access to Advanced Health Institute (AAHI) in Seattle has secured the first phase of up to $12.7 million in funding from the Medical CBRN Defense Consortium (MCDC) OTA for a five-year project. Led by Christopher Fox, the project aims to develop adjuvants to boost the human immune response to vaccines, focusing initially on pandemic influenza and tuberculosis.
Fox said, “At a very high level, the funding is to develop next-generation adjuvant technology that could be used across an array of vaccines, but more specifically going to demonstrate the technology using pandemic influenza and tuberculosis vaccines.”
AAHI seeks to make vaccines accessible globally and is also working on vaccines for COVID-19, HIV, and malaria.
