Sound Pharma’s SPI-1005 Shows Promising Hearing Results in Phase 3 Analysis

Seattle-based Sound Pharmaceuticals reported promising results from a Phase 3 clinical trial of SPI-1005, an investigational oral treatment for Ménière’s disease, a condition that can affect hearing and balance. The findings showed improvements in hearing and speech understanding among patients receiving the treatment compared with those receiving a placebo.

The trial involved 221 adults with Ménière’s disease, with approximately one-third of treated patients showing meaningful hearing improvements after 84 days. The findings were presented at the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery’s annual meeting, marking an important step in the company’s efforts to develop new treatment options for hearing disorders.

Sound Pharmaceuticals’ progress reflects the work of Washington-based biotech companies advancing new treatments and creating opportunities to improve patients’ lives.
