Kuni Foundation awards $7M to drive adult oncology research forward
Eight Fred Hutch and University of Washington researchers specializing in adult oncology have received a combined $7.27 million from the Kuni Foundation’s Discovery Grant program to support promising early-stage cancer research.
These grants, awarded amid tighter NIH funding and a 300% surge in applications, will back high-impact, high-risk cancer research projects, including developing a breast cancer recurrence database, testing a novel Frizzled-targeting antibody in pancreatic cancer models, and pursuing targeted therapies in pediatric leukemia and HPV‑negative squamous cell carcinoma.
This significant funding boost reinforces the Pacific Northwest’s growing reputation as a powerhouse for life‑science innovation and positions the region as a beacon for cutting-edge cancer research.
