Looking for engineering or technology work? Seattle ranked best U.S. city for STEM workers

A new report from WalletHub ranks Seattle as the best overall metro area for STEM professionals in the U.S. The rankings were determined based on relevant professional opportunities, STEM-friendliness and quality of life.

Seattle ranked first in professional opportunities, with Austin, in second place, followed by Boston, Atlanta, San Francisco and San Jose.

The Pacific Northwest tops the charts as one of the highest concentrations of STEM workers with more than 270,000 positions. The Emerald City also has an average wage of $123,000, one of the highest metro areas in the nation.
