Fred Hutch unveils results of new blood test that detects colon cancer

Fred Hutch Cancer Center, located in Seattle, announced a new blood test that can be used to detect colorectal cancer. According to a study published by the New England Journal of Medicine, this new blood test accurately detected colorectal cancer 83% of the time.

When speaking to the Seattle Times, Dr. Rachel Issaka, a Fred Hutch gastroenterologist and colorectal cancer researcher who co-authored the paper said, “I think this is an enormous breakthrough. We have another tool in our arsenal that allows people to have a noninvasive and easy way to potentially complete colon cancer screening.”
