Protein design pioneer David Baker on why sharing code is key to building biotech startups

The University of Washington (UW)’s CoMotion recently hosted an event featuring an interview with David Baker, the director of UW’s Institute of Protein Design and a UW professor.

During the interview, Baker discusses what makes Seattle a unique place for innovation, the importance of collaboration across the life science ecosystem, and advice for encouraging entrepreneurial thinking.

Baker is passionate about fostering the next generation of life science entrepreneurs in Seattle. He said, “If you want to hire people who know how to do protein design, Seattle is definitely the best place. I think you can kind of create an ecosystem just by sustained activity.”
