Allen Institute hits 20 years on the frontier of bioscience, and Seattle will be all aglow
In honor of the Allen Institute’s 20th anniversary, Seattle and King County now recognize Sept. 16, 2023, as “Open Science Day.”
The Allen Institute, founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 2003, is located in South Lake Union and focuses on bioscience research. The institute began as a brain science organization and has since expanded to areas including immunology, cell science and neural dynamics.
“Open Science Day,” which was designated by Seattle’s mayor and King County Executive Dow Constantine, coincides with the Allen Institute’s “Open Science Week.” In honor of the campaign, several of Seattle’s landmarks will be lit up in emerald green, including the Great Wheel, Rainier Square and the Pacific Science Center.
