40 Under 40: Kayla Garrett, Bristol Myers Squibb
Bristol Myers Squibb Senior Scientist Kayla Garrett is a Puget Sound Business Journal 40 under 40 honoree. She has worked towards a new approach to CAR-T cell production to scale therapies to help more patients with cancer.
Garrett developed the first automated cell-washing protocol during her first year at Bristol Myers Squibb, where she now trains others and leads a team aiming to improve manufacturing and lower costs.
“I got pulled in because I’d been working on this manufacturing process since the beginning,” Garrett said. “How would this be adapted to make as many doses as possible? That’s when the team started forming around me and it’s fun, like I’ve been running a marathon.”
