UW ranks No. 26 for best universities in the world, study finds
A new study from Times Higher Education ranks the University of Washington as the 26th best university in the world. The University of Oxford (U.K.) ranked first place, followed by Harvard University.
The study examined 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions and calculated ranks based on teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international vision. Overall, there are 19 U.S.-based universities that landed in the top 30 slots on the list of world rankings for 2023.
In the nation, the University of Washington ranks 17th alongside Northwestern University. The school’s best areas of study include atmospheric science, oceanography, and public health.
