Bill Gates helps open new vaccine manufacturing facility in Seattle area

Redmond-based biotech company, Inventprise, has opened a new Seattle-area manufacturing facility built with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The 700,000 square-foot facility will produce vaccines for pneumococcal disease and other illnesses. The Gates Foundation has committed up to $90 million from its strategic investment fund for this initiative, following a previous $100 million funding. The company now has more than 100 employees and several locations east of Seattle.

“We’re a fully committed partner, fully energized by what we’re seeing here and we have a lot of milestones to come. And I’d say this is a pretty big one,” said Bill Gates.
