New Type of Test May Better Discern Immunity to the Coronavirus

Seattle-based Adaptive Biotechnologies has developed a new type of COVID-19 test that uses a blood sample to determine immune response to the virus. The test works by detecting T cells, an immune cell that may be critical to preventing reinfection. Although not yet authorized by the FDA, preliminary data show the test is more accurate at indicating immunity than widely-used antibody tests.
